Monstera DeliciosaThe Swiss Cheese Plant Absolutely knows it's the main character.

All they ask for is bright light and to be left alone — relatable.

Native Habitat
Tropical rainforests of southern Mexico and Central America, where it climbs trees in warm jungle environments.
Growth
Up to 10 feet tall indoors — ideal for open spaces that can showcase the dramatic foliage.
Humidity
Happy in average household humidity. An easygoing icon.
Potting
Chunky, well-draining mix and a pot with drainage — these jungle climbers love breathable soil and airflow around their roots.
Calathea LietzeiPeacock Plant Pretty, but emotionally demanding.

Bold striping, pet-safe, and pure tropical drama — it will thrive if properly adored.

Light
Medium–bright indirect; east or north window.
Soil
Moist, airy soil — a breathable mix of coco coir, perlite, and bark.
Humidity
60% and above. Loves moist, air-rich rooms that mimic its Brazilian rainforest roots.
Growth
Compact and upright, reaching about 2–3 ft × 2–3 ft.
Pilea PeperomioidesChinese Money Plant Cute. Social. Slightly needy.

Looks like it's made entirely of tiny green pancakes and somehow still pulls off being chic.

Native Habitat
Southern China — popularized in Scandinavia and shared through cuttings, earning its "friendship plant" nickname.
Growth
Compact and full, about 1–2 ft tall and wide.
Humidity
Average household humidity (40–60%). No misting drama.
Propagation
Grows "pups" — mini versions that pop up from the soil, ready to pot up and share.
Maranta Leuconeura'Lemon Lime' Prayer Plant Folds up nightly. Judges silently.

Neon-green stripes light up the day; at night it politely folds its leaves like a tiny, leafy prayer. Dramatic yet devoted, tiny but mighty.

Light
Medium indirect; north- or east-facing.
Growth
Compact — about 2 ft tall, spreading 1–1.5 ft into a lush, patterned cluster.
Humidity
Moderate to high (50–70%) keeps leaves vibrant and crisp-edge free.
Bonus
Pet-safe. Known for its daily leaf movement.
Adiantum Raddianum'Fragrantissimum' Maidenhair Fern Delicate. Demanding. Still judging you.

Ultra-soft texture and classic fern vibes — when it's happy, it's stunning.

Light

Keep consistently moist; never let it dry out. Light, fine mix of coco coir, compost, and perlite.
Humidity
60–80%. Moist, air-rich environments that mimic its tropical roots.

Soft, airy clumps of fan-shaped fronds, 1–2 ft × 1–2 ft, lusher over time.

Faints dramatically when thirsty, revives minutes after watering. Full theater, zero stakes.

Light
Low–medium indirect; north or east.
Growth
Happy in a small pot — around 1 ft × under 1 ft. Perfect for a shelf or cute corner.
Humidity
60%+ — think bathrooms, kitchens, or cozy terrariums where the air never feels dry.
Potting
Soil that holds moisture but drains well: gently damp, never soggy.
Pilea Mollis'Moon Valley' Texture doing the most.

A crinkly, mossy little landscape in your hands — full of texture, drama, and the kind of attitude that makes all your other plants jealous.

Bright indirect; east-facing.

Compact and bushy — about 1–1.5 ft tall, 1 ft wide. Fits nicely on shelves and desks.

Easy from stem cuttings — snip below a leaf node, root in water or moist soil.

Our Story

Mortgage lender by day,
plant lover by night.

Hi there! I'm Katie Walsh. Turns out the best interest rate is surrounded by plants, so I built my dream office space.

Starting Houseplant Haven has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Just kidding. My friend brought it up as an idea a few months back and I laughed.

In 2020, I married Beck, a fellow West Linn High School grad. Together, we're raising a lively crew in Oregon City: three kids, one cat, one dog, and twenty chickens. Yes, twenty.

Some "friends" might call it a crazy obsession — I call it my calm. Plants keep me grounded, and now I get to share that joy with you.

This is my clan — my people, my roots. But family doesn’t stop here. If you love plants, you’re one of us. This shop is more than a place to buy greenery — it’s a growing community of plant lovers who share stories, swap tips, and occasionally talk to their plants. We care deeply about the little things that make life bloom.
